YMCA Camp Eberhart's horse programs combine experienced horses, qualified staff, and excellent facilities to create a positive atmosphere where campers can focus on horses. These programs allow campers the opportunity to advance their horseback riding skills, expand their horsemanship knowledge, and enjoy riding with friends.
Adult Trail ClubCome back to what you love! This club meets for a little horsey R & R each Sunday afternoon, and is open to any adult with previous horse experience (no beginners please!). Take some time off for yourself, as you make new friends, and learn and ride at your own pace. EAGLEEquine Assisted Growth and Learning Experience - This unique program uses activities with horses, both ground and mounted, to promote emotional and social growth in participants. This 6 – 8 week program is open to organized groups, and is facilitated by a Masters level Counselor. Beginning RidingNo experience necessary. Riders will learn the basics of control through hand, leg, and seat aides. Intermediate RidingRiders must have at least one course of instruction and ride comfortably at a walk and a trot. Class will emphasize refining the aides and building horse/rider communication. Private LessonsPrivate and semi-private lessons are available in the Spring, Fall, and Winter months. Learn new skills at your own pace. Call us to set aside this time just for you! Vaulting TeamVaulting is an exciting sport involving performing gymnastic moves on the back of a moving horse. Vaulters start with very basic, easy moves on a stationary barrel and progress to more complex skills on a horse, all in a very safe and controlled environment. There are numerous opportunities to compete, both locally and nationally. This activity makes competition avaliable to kids who may not be able to own a horse and compete in "regular" shows. Vaulting Team is open to all youngsters over the age of 8. We are associated with The American Vaulting Association. Pony PreschoolSmall group instruction requiring parents to lead. Young riders learn balance and confidence without worrying about controlling the horse. Later classes will introduce riders to steering, trotting, and trail riding. Saddle ClubRain or Shine! Kids gather at the barn to ride, clean, play games and learn about horses.Saddle Club meets August through June each year. PleasureRide to relax. Empahsis on stress reduction and trail riding. Open to any level rider. We are continuing to build our permanent herd and could always use a few more quiet, well-trained ponies or horses for beginning riders. Donated horses should be between the ages of five and fifteen, be sound, kind and tolerant. Please recommend to anyone looking for a loving home for such horses - we have plenty of TLC for them! Scholarships for RidingEquestrian volunteers joined the Camp's Community Campaign to provide scholarships for riding students who need assistance with the cost of lessons.
