A New Craft Shop In The Making!

Remember the old Craft Shop? Yes, the original Craft Shop located between the Camp Store and Sailing? What a wonderful place to create and enjoy some good times with friends and staff. Let's see, we purchased lanyard materials out its' windows, we made ceramic bowls, fired ash trays, painted glass, and always left with a smile on our faces. Ma West, Bob (Birdie) White, Nancy Parker O'Brien and many others helped us enjoy our youth through their friendship and their teaching. We had fun! Well, maybe, just maybe, we can create some of that ole' fun again.

The craft shop is presently located on the waterfront, in what was, the old staff lounge. The building was built by a donation from Mr. & Mrs. James Gregory, replacing (what we all called) the "Log Cabin." When the old Craft Shop was torn down, Gregory Lodge was the logical place to move to. Hence, the Craft Shop has been located in an inefficient and too small a building ever since.

Many of our Alumni have talked about building a new and much more efficient Craft Shop. One to replace the cramped quarters that are now used. We now have a Anonymous Camp Alumnus that has stepped up and made a $1,000.00 kick-off donation. We wish to start a capital campaign to build a new craft shop. Are you interested in helping --- dollars collected to date = $2,100.00? If so, e-mail me and we can discuss how you can help. No plans have been drawn, no list of necessary items have been made. We are just in the planning stages. But, you can help. When sufficient help has been recruited, camp will start the process of designing a new and improved Craft Shop. So if you remember pounding out a beat dish. If you remember firing a bowl or an ash tray. If you remember making tumble gem rings and necklaces, then it's time for you to help! Over the next couple of years we hope to accumulate enough funds to make this dream come true. We also have a naming opportunity for a loved one or a friend. Contact me today and tell me you wish to help!
